Wiedza Obronna is a reviewed scientific journal that has been published since 1973. Currently, it is released as a quarterly journal.

The journal publishes original works in the scope of security studies and related fields of social and human science as well as technics (provided that it is accordant with the purpose of the journal).

The purpose of the journal is the research on national security in the theoretical and practical scope. Thereupon, we look for original Polish and English texts that relate to multidisciplinary aspects of national security and defence in military and non-military sphere. In our journal, the publications should include issues in the field of general knowledge of security, that is, theories and philosophies of security, extensive disciplines of knowledge in this scope (military, public, common, political, economic, ecological, social, cultural, information, cyberspace security etc.) and related auxiliary studies (security law, defence law and military law, security administration, defence administration and military administration, history of security, sociology of security and logistics, security economics, defence economics, military economics and safety education). The main field of interest relates to the Republic of Poland, Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea region. However, because of transboundary nature of  contemporary dangers of security environment it also relates to other European countries and the member states of NATO.

Since 2019 (vol. 268), each issue number of the journal has had its theme. More detailed information about new issues and their subject area is placed in the tab “For Authors”.  Editorial office also accepts opinions, book reviews and reports of important scientific events. However, these texts are not reviewed.
